The school-age program is designed for the care of children in grades K-7^th before and after school throughout the school year. 

The school-age program is divided into two classrooms: SA 1 for K-2^nd grade and SA 2 for 3^rd-7^th grade.

 Our program will provide quality care as well as a structured social and learning environment for your child.  When Muhlenberg dismisses early or is closed for holidays during the school year, this program is available.

The School-Aged Child

The Younger Years (SA 1)

Children this age need help reading directions for homework and completing homework.  They are beginning to learn how to read on their own and enjoy reading with their parents or other adults.  Children are starting to understand basic math problems, but may need help completing assignments.  Children enjoy being with friends and are interested in rules and rituals of play.

The Older Years (SA 2)

Children this age can usually read and understand their homework without the help of an adult.  They can read entire books with little or no help.  Children are starting to understand more complex math concepts and may need some help with these homework assignments.  Children this age enjoy large group activities such as board games and sports.

Daily Schedule

Morning care begins at 6:30 A.M.

We provided breakfast for all the children which is served between 7:30am-8:00am.

About 8:15am the morning session is completed and the children prepare for the arrival of the bus. All children are taken directly to the bus stop out by the mailbox.   Muhlenberg School District provides bussing.

Afternoon care begins about 3:45pm upon arrival of the afternoon bus.  All children are met by the staff and are brought into the classrooms.  Please reference our Before and After School policy in the Parent Handbook for specific bus drop off and pick up procedures.

Afternoon snack is provided by the center. After snack the children are encouraged to do their homework (some parents request that their children do their homework here). The staff will gladly assist any child during this time.  A variety of free play activities are available during this time as well.

Care is available until 6:00pm.
